China is certainly a serious threat. I read someplace that the Chinese are very patient and work for their long term interests. I believe they are building up their military strength, waiting for the time when they can challenge the United States on Taiwan.
ReplyDeleteI think they will also take into consideration the attitude of the current president - will he protect Taiwan - and will choose a moment when we have a weak president and when they have made more progress in building their military. Then they could use their military threat and the threat of dumping dollars at the same time to disuade the United States from helping Taiwan while they make their move.
I am suggesting that China may confront Taiwan and the United States in some way before President Obama leaves office, possibly in 2012.
If the United States shows weakness at that time, that may provoke Europe into distrusting the United States as an ally and moving swiftly to build up their military power.
